ERIS: interconnection service without a deliverability guarantee
The lower of the two standard interconnection service levels, permitting a generator to inject energy on an as-available basis without a study demonstrating delivery to load.
Energy resource interconnection service is the lower of the two service levels in the pro forma interconnection procedures. It allows a generating facility to connect and inject energy into the transmission system on an as-available basis.
What it does not include is a demonstration that the facility''s output can be delivered to load under the conditions the deliverability analysis tests. That demonstration belongs to network resource interconnection service, and it is the reason the two service levels can produce different upgrade requirements and different costs for the same physical project.
Choosing between them is a tariff question with commercial consequences: the lower service level typically triggers fewer network upgrades and lower cost responsibility, while the higher one is what a project generally needs to be recognised in a resource adequacy construct.

- Does ERIS mean the generator can be curtailed?
- It means injection is on an as-available basis under the tariff. The service does not carry the deliverability showing that network service requires.
- Can a project upgrade from ERIS later?
- Requesting the higher service level generally requires a further study of deliverability under the applicable tariff.
